Water utilities in Albania are overcoming past management difficulties. Two years after their consolidation into 14 large companies, improvements have been noted in supply duration, non-revenue water, operating costs, and efficiency.

According to the Water Regulatory Authority (ERRU) report for 2024, the coverage of operating and maintenance costs reached 110%, up from 100% in 2023.

The daily water supply duration increased by one hour nationwide, now averaging 17.3 hours per day.

Additionally, non-revenue water (NRW) improved by 4% in 2024, bringing the rate down to 61%. This improvement is attributed to an increase in billed water volume.

ERRU stated that almost all companies performed well in this regard.

Meanwhile, the staff-to-connection ratio was recorded at 4.51 per 1,000 connections, compared to 4.56 per 1,000 connections in 2023.
