Police reported having detained around 30 protesters as the rally to remove the leader of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha took a violent turn.

The march was initially described as “peaceful”, but later escalated into a clash between protesters and the police.

At least 6 people were injured and taken to the hospital in an ambulance to be treated for poisoning due to the tear gas used to disperse the crowds.

A police officer has also sustained a head injury.

Meanwhile, Berisha posted a picture of an injured protester on his Facebook page.

The police have surrounded the perimeter of the Democratic Party considering it a crime scene due to the violent acts that ensued during the protest.

The protest began around 12 PM on Saturday. Berisha’s supporters swarmed DP’s building after tearing down the doors and smashing the windows. Some of them were also seen climbing to the second floor on a ladder.
