The former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Anton Berisha, considered the recent news being spread by various media outlets in Kosovo regarding a secret plan to assassinate the head of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku and several of his MPs, very disturbing and a cause for concern.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Berisha said that he himself was the target of two assassination attempts. Berisha underlined that he has lived under the protection of the police for two years and unfortunately, these cases have not seen an end.

“It is quite worrying, as a political formation, as an idea, as a national conscience that the LDK has been and it continues to be, and it is also worrying on a personal level. In this particular case, I myself was a victim of two planned assassination attempts and I lived for 2 years under the protection of the police. It is a difficult, disturbing, personal life, for family members and for the political subjects themselves. Unfortunately, never and in no case have they been uncovered and solved to the end. This is a concern that is affecting not only the Democratic League but all of Kosovo as well. In my case, there were 5 or 6 people taken to prison, but it didn’t go deeper than that and simply remained unexplained”, he said.
