The Albanian Minister of Finance and the Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, said on Thursday that oil prices would be even higher if it weren’t for the Board of Transparency.
In her address from the parliament podium, Ibrahimaj said the gross margin has decreased, and if the board wouldn’t exist, people would have to pay more to buy fuel.
“You say we’ve created these boards that are fascist, communist, and have negatively affected the price of fuel. You’re wrong. These boards have made it possible for the gross margin, including operational costs for this year to be 5%-6%”.
“Meanwhile, the gross margin has been 15-18% since last year. This means that if these boards were not set up, we would have a much higher price for fuel than what we have today” she added.
On Wednesday, the Board of Transparency set the price of oil at 249 Lek per liter (€2.10).
