Italian media have uncovered parts of the transcripts from the wiretaps of the drug trafficking gang in Rome, that led to the arrest of Albanian signer Elsa Lila.

Lila allegedly tells other gang members to created connections with the government in order to dodge police checks, even sharing a personal story.

“Nobody from the state comes to control me, because they know me, I have excellent relations. They gave me a fine once, but then they told me not to pay it because they won’t check it. Because, here, just like in Albania, you need a connection, as you’ll find a way out regardless of who is in government. You need to find a way as they take money here, too”, reportedly said the Albanian singer.

The gang used encrypted phones to avoid being surveilled.

In some of the inserts of the transcript published by Italian daily paper Corriere Della Sera, the gang reportedly claimed that if they were to ever get caught, Rome would need a new jail, hinting at the large size of the criminal group.

Elsa Lila was arrested on Wednesday in Italy, allegedly for her ties in the drug-trafficking group.

So far, there is no evidence that could definitely pin her to the case.

However, the court has argued that she is ‘directly implicated’ and called her ‘a trusted member of the drug lord’.
