The average number of weekly working hours slightly decreased last year to 41.3 hours, down from 41.6 hours in 2023.

Among the sectors with the lowest workload were public administration and social services, where state employees worked an average of 40.5 hours per week.

By contrast, the trade, transport, hospitality, and business services sector recorded 46.8 weekly working hours in 2024.

The manufacturing sector also maintained a high workload, with 46.4 hours per week, ranking among the sectors with the longest working hours.

Construction followed the same trend, with 45.1 hours. After that came the extractive industries and energy sector, with 43.2 hours in 2024, reflecting the stability of these sectors in terms of both demand and production.

Meanwhile, the agriculture sector registered the lowest weekly working hours, at 35.5 per week, partly due to the seasonality of employment.

In 2024, Albanian workers had the longest weekly working hours compared to the EU, where the European average was 36 hours—almost 5 hours less.
