The United States President, Joe Biden has wished the Albanian President, Ilir Meta on the country’s Independence Day.

In his greetings, Biden called out Albania’s ‘great achievements’ after their reinstatement of relations with the US following the communist regime.

“What Albania has been able to achieve since 1991 is impressive,” – wrote Biden.

The US president also made mention of the welcoming characteristic of Albania, which was manifested through their taking in of thousands of Afghan refugees fleeing the recent return to power of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Biden also put an emphasis on the bilateral relations between both countries in terms of trade and investments, with the main focus being the energy sector.

In addition, he underlined that the United States will continue to offer their support to Albania, for as long as there are efforts towards strengthening our democracy and our integration into the European Union.
