Journalist Alba Kepi was invited to the show “People” on Euronews Albania to discuss dental treatment in Albania and a video that has circulated in the Italian media, related to the problems that Italian citizens have after having their teeth treated in Albania.

In a direct connection, the journalist brought to attention a study by the Association of Dentists, where it was reflected through figures that in 2023, 200 thousand Italian citizens have had their teeth treated in 7 countries, outside of Italy, among which Albania had the highest number.

Of these 50,000 patients who had come to Albania, from whom an annual business turnover of 2300 million euros had been achieved, according to studies, one in three of them presented a problem after returning to Italy.

“Not only the doctor’s statement, but also many dentists’ statements signal many problems for patients treated in Albania, who then return to Italy. I want to give some information about what is happening with dental tourism. In 2023, collected by the Association of Dentists, it turns out that there are 200,000 Italians who have had their teeth treated in 7 countries outside Italy, the main one being Albania, with the largest number of patients.

In 2023, about 50 thousand Italians have been cured. With a business turnover of around 300 million euros per year. Within these studies, but also from a Congress held in Rimini, they have confirmed that 1 in 3 Italians treated in Albania show problems. This is quite evident, just take the plane to Bari and you will see that there are cards that show how teeth are treated in Albania. At Rinas airport, you are surrounded by a large flow of people who present different dental clinics that are waiting for patients to treat their teeth in Albanian dental clinics,” said the journalist.
