The actor, at the same time a member of the National Council of the Democratic Party, Julian Deda has expressed his willingness to run against Erion Veliaj for the Municipality of Tirana, if the Democrats decide so.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Deda stated that this should be decided by all Democrats through the primaries.

“Now, maybe the time has come for atypical people, who we see every day, who suffer just like us, to take it into their own hands. We need to see these people lead us, maybe these people know our problems better than a seasoned politician who has closed his problems a long time ago. Would I like to run? If the Democrats decide to, yes. I’d love to run, no problem. But we must all be together to decide it. It will be decided by the Democrats and the competition within the Democratic Party. If the Democrats decide, I will be ready to take off these clothes that I have today and lock myself in the tower and work for the capital, definitely”, he emphasized.

The most talked about names from the right as possible candidates for the Municipality of Tirana are the democratic MP, Belind Kellici and doctor Ilir Alimehmeti.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting this Monday at the party’s headquarters, with the Leaders of the Working Groups who lead and follow the political action of this political force.

In the meeting, the situation on the ground was analyzed, on the organization of branches, completion of structures and new memberships. Berisha emphasized that political action will extend simultaneously in two directions; The organization of primaries and the organization of protests.
