Analyst Baton Haxhiu commented on the final ruling made by the Constitutional Court regarding the local elections on June 30, 2019, which validated their legitimacy, saying that this is a direct blow to president Meta.

According to Haxhiu, the Constitutional ‘rendered Ilir Meta’s presidential role immoral and lacking any reasoning’.

The analyst also added that even though he too has lost hope in the Constitutional Court, today’s verdict is the perfect case to have all sides learn how they need to act in relation to the Constitution.

On the contrary, analyst Andi Bushati said that no elections took place on June 30.

“All you need to do is take a look at the OSCE-ODIHR report. There hasn’t been a bleaker report of an electoral race in Albania in the past 30 years. On one side, I understand that no one can take the Albanian elections hostage, but isn’t it a kind of kidnapping if the elections are under the grip of a single party?” – argued Bushati.

“When a political party starts to act like a state party then it becomes even more dangerous than the simple postponement of elections by a couple of weeks,” – added Bushati.
