Journalist Poli Hoxha says that within a few hours, the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK) will request the arrest of former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Hoxha said that the request for arrest will be recorded, which will then be examined by the commission of mandates.

“I think that it’s a matter of hours, even the days are long, the SPAK that started last week, will deliver what was started on the way, that the offices of the Assembly were opened a few days ago and they waited until 12 at night, after they were notified that the procedure is that the Guard is notified and the protocol waits for the request; I believe that the request for arrest will be recorded, which will then go to the commission of mandates”, he emphasized.

Arben Ahmetaj is officially under investigation by the Special Prosecutor’s Office. Sources for Euronews Albania inform that the name of the former deputy prime minister is listed in the register of the person against whom investigations are underway for three criminal offenses such as “Abuse of duty”, “Passive corruption” and “Cleaning of the proceeds of a criminal offence”.

In the document provided by Euronews Albania, it is reported that the citizen of Erjola Hoxha is not related to the investigation being carried out by the prosecution. According to SPAK, the control in her apartment is related to the fact that she is the cohabitant of the former deputy prime minister and the ties she has with him. Ahmetaj is being investigated by the Special Prosecutor’s Office regarding his involvement in the case of the incinerators. A few days ago, he objected to the checks carried out in the apartment of his co-habitant, as well as the apartment of his ex-wife.
