The European Union is currently analyzing the mistakes and evaluating what has worked and what hasn’t in the Brussels-mediated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, in an effort to revitalize the normalization process between the two neighboring countries, said EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Monday in Podgorica.
Asked about the current deadlock in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Kallas stated during a press conference that, “What we are doing this month is conducting an analysis,” together with the EU’s Special Representative for the dialogue, Peter Sorensen, who assumed the role in February.
“What matters to us is the normalization of relations, because without it, neither of them can move forward on their path toward the EU,” Kallas emphasized.
She did not elaborate further on what specific mistakes may have been made or what exactly has gone wrong in the EU-facilitated dialogue so far.
Despite years of dialogue and signed agreements, the process has stalled and tensions between the parties have de-escalated.
