The dialogue mediated by the European Union is the only platform for solving the unresolved issues between Kosovo and Serbia, said the new commander of KFOR, Major General Enrico Barduani during a meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

In a process facilitated by the European Union and supported by the United States, Kosovo and Serbia have been in dialogue since 2011.

Barduani said that the Brussels dialogue is also the only platform for reaching solutions “that respect the rights of all communities”, KFOR announced through a communiqué.

According to him, this is key for sustainable security in Kosovo, as well as for regional stability.

“Major General Barduani also noted his unwavering commitment to promote unity of effort with all his counterparts in order to ensure coordination and reduce the possibility of actions that could lead to tensions,” it was announced in notification.

Enrico Barduani assumed the post of KFOR commander in Kosovo this month.

The prime minister also announced the meeting between Kurti and the KFOR commander.

“They talked about the importance of regular communication and coordination in the service of security and peace in the country, and the cooperation and joint activities of KFOR and Kosovo’s security institutions,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
