The US ambassador conducted a meeting earlier today with the 15 prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), who were encouraged to prioritize and focus on important matters, like holding accountable those that damage the interest of Albanians and try to get rich through activities linked to organized crime and corruption.
The high-ranking official called it ‘good news’ for Albania, to have the first 28 investigators of NBI join forces with SPAK, in the war against crime and corruption in order to put an end to the “era of impunity”.
“It is good news for Albania that the first class of NBI investigators is joining forces with them to combat crime and corruption. The NBI class of 28 dedicated and well-trained investigators will ensure SPAK builds strong cases. Together, they will prioritize and focus on the most significant cases and model independence and accountability. Together, they will prosecute and hold accountable those who harm Albanians and enrich themselves through organized crime and corruption. No one is above the law. The time of impunity is coming to an end,” – wrote the US embassy in their press release.
