On June 12, 1999, after 78 days of NATO’s bombings, the 2-year war between Serbia and Kosovo, or more precisely, the Serbian armed forces and Kosovo’s Liberation Army finally came to an end.
Today, this anniversary was commemorated through activities spread across Prishtina and other communes, during which state leaders paid their homages to some of the most important fallen leaders that contributed to the country’s liberation.
President Vjosa Osmani and PM Albin Kurti paid their homage at the grave of Kosovo’s former President Ibrahim Rugova.
Osmani stated that former president Rugova was the architect of Kosovo’s independence and the one that built the bridges of friendship that continue to serve Kosovo to this day.
In addition, PM Kurti stated that Kosovo’s institutions won’t forget the past and that they will engage in reinstating justice for the victims, their families, and the suffering of all the nation of Kosovo.
