For several days now, Kosovo has been faced with shortages in its electricity supply and thus a series of power cuts.
This situation is linked to the global energy crisis and the rise in electricity prices in international markets.
According to an announcement made by KEDS – the company which supplies consumers with electricity – these power cuts have been applied following the advice of the Operator of the Energy Market in Kosovo.
“We are currently faced with the harshest global energy crisis in history. Limitations will continue for around 2 hours a day,” – stated the notice of the System Operator and the Electricity Market in Kosovo.
These cuts have caused even more discontent amongst consumers, especially those involved in the business sector, who are directly being affected by these reductions.
On the other hand, the Government has called on citizens to try to save energy by being mindful of how much electricity they use.
For the next 60 days, the government has announced a national emergency that will be characterized by power cuts or other forms of limitation.
