The Energy Regulatory Office in Kosovo (ERO) announced on Friday that it has proposed increasing electricity prices in the country by around 15% next month.
The energy regulator stated on Facebook that, based on the results of its consultative report on the maximum allowed revenues, the average tariff increase for consumers is expected to be around 15%. It also invited consumers for a public consultation.
ERO conducts an annual review and determination of electricity tariffs, which are announced every April 1 and remain in effect until March 31 of the following year.
A few weeks ago, three energy sector companies in Kosovo requested the energy regulator to increase electricity tariffs.
The Transmission, System, and Market Operator [KOST], the Kosovo Electricity Distribution Company [KEDS], and the Kosovo Electricity Supply Company [KESCO] requested a tariff increase due to the import of electricity.
ERO invited consumers, regular enterprises, and stakeholders for a public consultation regarding its proposal to raise electricity tariffs by 15%. It stated that it would accept comments and suggestions until March 28, before its board makes a final decision on the price increase.
Last year, ERO reduced the price for commercial and industrial consumers by 3%. However, a year earlier, in 2023, tariffs were increased by 15% for all consumer categories.
