The artistic feature from Kosovo titled ‘Hive’ directed by Blerta Basholli has been shortlisted for the prestigious Oscar 2022 award.
‘Hive’ is now part of a list of 15 international films that will be racing for the 94th edition of the Oscars.
‘Hive’ is inspired by the true story of Fahrije Hoti from Krusha e Madhe, who is looking for her husband who went missing during the Kosovo war. As a result, she was forced to open an agricultural business to secure her family’s survival.
She is forced to face the traditional and patriarchal environment in her hometown, where ambition isn’t viewed positively.
No one and nothing stopped Fahrije and her mission. And this is exactly what intrigued Basholli to base this film on her life’s story.
The role of Fahrije is played by Kosovo actress, Yllka Gashi.
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani called the film’s participation in the Oscars an extraordinary success.
