The head of the Firefighters Union, Muharrem Beka shared on Wednesday the main problems that they face on a daily basis, starting with weak organizational procedures and bad working conditions.

In an interview on Euronews Albania on International Firefighters Day, Beka said that this profession suffers from the same problems, both in Kosovo and Albania.

“Our salaries are lower than our colleagues in Albania, although we do get a €100 hazard pay ”. He also added that another concern is outdated firefighting equipment, and the average age of firefighters still at work going up.

Beka said more investments are needed for their safety so that they can be better equipped in life-threatening situations.
