“Enough is Enough”, “Let’s Dance” and “Kill the virus, not the business” were some of the placards held by the members of the Kosovo Gastronomy Association as they protest pandemic-related measures.

Instead, they demand from the government to extend curfew hours to 1 AM, allowing wedding ceremonies in compliance with COVID-19 measures, as well as financial compensation for nearly 600 days that they have been out of business.

The chairman of the Tourism and Hoteliers Chamber Hysen Sugojeva says that the measures were imposed without priorly consulting with interest groups.

Sugojeva claims that although their businesses were closed due to the virus, politicians continue to hold massive rallies.

“Where is the justice when politicians go to dinners and hold political campaigns with over 1,000 people?”, asked Sugojeva.

The chairman of the Kosovar Gastronomy Association Petrit Kllokoqi, who has staged several protests since the first outbreak, warned escalating to larger rallies if their requests go to deaf ears.

“Today we wanted to make a warning about an even larger protest”, said Kllokoqi as he called on authorities “let us work if you can’t sustain us”.
