The decision to “institute reciprocity” in terms of the ongoing dispute of Serbian registration plates, is being faced with incredible backlash in northern Kosovo.
The verdict approved by minister Xhelal Svecla, which has come into force immediately, requires all vehicles carrying Serbian license plates to get a hold of temporary plates before entering Kosovo.
These temporary plates should be positioned onto a location that is visible to the naked eye, and one will cost drivers a fee of 5 euros.
Special forces have been deployed in all border crossing points around the country in order to start the implementation of this new mandate.
Meanwhile, on Monday morning, Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic called an urgent meeting of the Security Council to discuss the issue. The meeting will be held the following day, on Tuesday, September 21st at 10:00 a.m.
