Kosovo Indictment for bribery against 12 Police officials

The Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo announced on Friday that it has filed an indictment against 12 police officials, who are suspected of bribery.

Some of them are suspected of accepting bribes, while the rest of them are suspected of giving bribes, the Prosecutor’s Office announced.

“The defendants T.D, M.S, V.L, A.A, V.M, A.S, A.C, M.J are accused of having committed the criminal offense of ‘taking a bribe’, while the defendants B.K, A.A, S.S and D.I are accused of having committed the criminal offense of ‘giving of bribery”, the announcement states.

They are suspected of committing the criminal offense “individually and in a group” during a one-year period from 2012 to 2022 at the Hani i Elezit border crossing, as well as during patrolling as part of the anti-smuggling police unit in the northern part and in other parts of country, writes Radio Free Europe.

“In a direct way, they have accepted money in different amounts, in order not to perform the official action which they had to perform, such as regular customs supervision and regular border control”, the announcement states.
