Albania’s Prime Minister, Edi Rama says that relations between Kosovo and Serbia are better than ever. However, concluding the dialogue between the two countries would be the end of a conflicts’ chapter in the region.
Speaking at the Delphi Economic Forum in Greece, Rama said that the region is in a good situation, because there is communication between them, as opposed to years ago.
“The Kosovo-Serbia dialogue remains the biggest issue. Resolving it would be the end once and for all, of a chapter of conflicts and blood. This is important and strategic. However, considering this element, relations between Kosovo and Serbia have never been better. There is still a lot to be done to change this relation,” Rama declared during his speech.
Talking about the lack of stability in the region because of Russian influence, Rama says he is not worried.
“Considering the geopolitical aspect and the international policies of the region, we have a complex picture. There are 3 NATO member states, Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro. Albania is not influenced by Russia, whereas Montenegro and North Macedonia are concerning. On the other hand, there is Serbia, Bosnia and Hercegovina and Kosovo. Kosovo is like Albania, completely in harmony with the USA and EU. There is no Russian influence there, while Serbia or Bosnia is under their influence. This is not only about governance, but in the population,” Rama further added.
Vladimir Putin’s popularity in Serbia reaches a level of 65%-80%. This is why according to Rama, Vučić has a harder time sanctioning Russia, because the popularity of the Russian President is higher than that of the Serbian President, in his own country.
