Kosovo is expected to honor US President Donald Trump with a medal of its highest award for his role in helping Kosovo and Serbia reach an agreement at normalizing economic ties with Serbia, according to Reuters news agency.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, the article reads, informed President Trump that he will receive Kosovo’s Medal of the Order of the Freedom.

“Two Trump aides, national security adviser Robert O’Brien and Richard Grenell, the U.S envoy for Kosovo-Serbia talks, are to receive Presidential Medal of Merits.”

In his letter to the head of the White House, Thaci invites President Trump to visit Kosovo. As part of a deal reached earlier this month, Kosovo and Serbia agreed to co-operate economically, but suspended steps towards political normalization.

The White House called this agreement as historic, “after a volent and tragic history and years of failed negotiations.”
