257 new soldiers will be added to Kosovo’s Army.

These soldiers were sworn in today, amid heart felt comments and remarks.

“I am deeply moved on this special day, not only for me but for the other 256 recruits that participated on graduation day. This is because now, our lives will change and we will embark on a new experience,” – said one of them.

Amongs other calls, there were also those who were directed at women, inviting more female recruits to join the army.

There are 4 NATO member states that still don’t recognize Kosovo: Greece, Romania, Slovakia and Spain. These countries could become an issue for Kosovo’s mission to join the Alliance.

Peacekeeping NATO troops have been deployed in Kosovo since the end of the Kosovo War in 1999.

NATO has yet to officially recognize and back up the transformation of Kosovo’s Security Forces (FSK) into an Army.
