Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met on Tuesday with the Head of the Liaison Office of Greece, Ambassador Heleni Vakali, where among other things the country’s executive called for the recognition of Kosovo.

Kurti commended the good bilateral ties but added that more can be done by enhancing trade, economic cooperation, and investments.

Pristina called on Athens to join the rest of the EU countries in recognizing the country’s independence, according to a statement released to the press.

Ambassador Vakali said she feels honored to take up such an important post and that Greece is a strong and sincere friend to Kosovo.

“Although we still do not recognize the independence of Kosovo, Greece has been able to develop bilateral ties without any issues whatsoever”, emphasized Vakali.

Vasali said she was ‘impressed’ by Kosovo’s great potential and the opportunities that exist for bilateral cooperation.

The Ambassador also commended the government’s commitment to enforcing democratic values and results from tackling corruption.

Prime Minister Kurti and Ambassador Vakali reckoned that the two countries must go ahead with their joint projects in the field of education and culture, as well as the organization of the upcoming economic forum.
