Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by Acting Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi and Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Kreshnik Ahmeti, hosted the ambassadors and diplomatic representatives of the QUINT countries, along with the Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo.

The main focus of the meeting was Kosovo’s accession process to the Council of Europe. Prime Minister Kurti recalled that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the rapporteur on Kosovo’s membership have already confirmed that Kosovo meets the legal and institutional criteria to join this important international organization.

He emphasized that further advancement in the membership process would demonstrate that democratic reforms and alignment with European norms and values are being recognized and appreciated, even in politically challenging contexts that require principled and strategic decisions to strengthen European unity and stability.

Kurti added that continued delays in Kosovo’s membership would mean denying citizens — including non-majority communities and other vulnerable groups — access to the European Court of Human Rights, a vital protective mechanism that could significantly enhance individual rights and accountability.

The meeting also addressed the path forward for Kosovo’s integration into the European Union and recent developments within the country.
