“We are not in the Middle Ages, which is why no, there won’t be an exchange of territories”. These were the remarks of Kosovo’s PM, Albin Kurti during an interview for the Croatian press, Vecernji List, where he was invited to comment on the Open Balkan initiative.

In regards to Open Balkan, Kurti stated that it is truly an open Balkan, but in the sense that it is open to Russian influence.

“How can the Balkans be open when Serbia remains closed to Kosovo? It doesn’t recognize our passports, our IDs, our diplomas, certificates, or stamps. The Balkans can only be open after Serbia opens up to Kosovo. The ‘Open Balkan’ is more so an ‘Open Balkan’ towards eastern influence, especially Russian influence,” – said Kurti.
