July 19th 2021 is the date when Kosovo’s PM Albin Kurti, and the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic are expected to meet for the second time, as part of the dialogue mediated by the EU.

Their first meeting didn’t bring about any results. According to political analyst Adrian Çollaku, not much can be expected from this second meeting either.

However, analyst Bardhyl Hasanpapaj thinks the opposite. According to him, the Kosovar side has been constructive and well adapted to the dialogue process.

“The Serbian side, has held the same approach and will continue doing so; accusing the Kosovar side about the struggles facing the dialogue process. However, with a serious approach by the Kosovar side, I believe that it will become quite evident, be it through mediators and the EU, that in fact it’s not Kosovo’s fault at all. Kosovo is a party in this roundtable that will present its ideas,” argued Hasanpapaj.

Hasanpapaj continued by saying that the demand of the Kosovar side to not discuss other topics without the prior removal of the Serbian parallel structures from Kosovo, shouldn’t be seen as an act that wants to stall the process, on the contrary, it is a legitimate and necessary one.

However, according to Çollaku, the status-quo cannot result in a positive outcome for Kosovo.

“Because the status quo isn’t in Kosovo’s favor,” – claimed Hasanpapaj, “but the actions of the Kosovar side aren’t supporting or contributing to it.”

Lastly, he stated that the willingness of the Kosovar side for the meetings and dialogue process, in addition to its strategy to not accept anything that is being served to them on the roundtable, should be commended and offered support to.
