The Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti asserted that the government is doing everything to overcome the energy crisis and that it succeeded in stabilizing the supply of electricity.
He emphasized that power outages are “almost over”.
“The economy minister and I are in regular touch with Kosovo Energy Corporation and KOSTT. We were able to stabilize energy supply and power outages have almost been removed due to enhanced liquidity and import subsidies”, wrote Kurti on Facebook.
Kurti blamed two domestic factors for the crisis.
A lack of vision for the socio-economic development of Kosovo in planning sustainable supply and affordable prices, both for households and industry. Secondly, government corruption peaked with the privatization of the distribution and supply network for only €26 million”, he said among others.
“Under these circumstances, there is no better solution: either electricity cuts or higher prices. Kosovo had to think about this a long time ago, in order not to end up in this bad state”, he added.
Kurti vowed that his government will have a long-term national energy strategy for the upcoming decade.
