The Special Envoy of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak has announced the further continuation of the dialogue between both countries starting from the beginning of September.
The news was announced by Lajcak through a post on Twitter, where he also wrote that he has been discussing with the vice-PM of Kosovo, Besnik Bislmi and the Director of the Office for Kosovo at the Serbian government, Petar Petkovic regarding the upcoming meeting mediated by chief negotiators.
“Today, I had substantive separate discussions with First Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, and with the Director of the Serbian office for Kosovo, Petar Petkovic, about the preparations for the next Dialogue meeting on Chief negotiators-level in early September,” wrote Lajcak.
The last meeting between Kurti and Vucic was held back in July. The agenda proposed by Kurti contained 4 main points, amongst which was the peace agreement between both countries, which didn’t acquire the understanding of the Serbian president.
The dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia began in 2011 and the association continues to be a major issue for the negotiations.
Kosovo is steadfast on its stance against the creation of an association of Serbian majority communes, while Serbia is using it as an instrument to stall further discussions.
