University professors will hold a protest tomorrow, which also marks the beginning of the new academic year.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, lecturers Peter Saraci, Elior Vila and Bsilim Ahmetaj stated that from 08:00 to 10:00 they will welcome the first-year students and then they will start the protest.

They asked the government to fulfill 9 demands and expect students to join their protest.

“This applies to all universities in Albania, not only to the University of Shkodra. The decisions of the union have been distributed and in order not to penalize the first-year students, who are seeing the university for the first time, we have decided to move the start of the protest to 10 o’clock and we will stick to this decision”, said Peter Saraçi, Lecturer at “Luigj Gurakuqi” University in Shkoder.

“From 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., we will receive the students, orient them regarding the university’s facilities and regulations. We will be on strike from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.,” said Elior Vila, lecturer at the “Aleksander Xhuvani” University in Elbasan.

“Tomorrow, it has been decided by the Independent Union of Higher Education that there will be no class. At 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in front of each faculty, there will be a protest by lecturers and we hope that the students will join us in our protest, which will continue every day until the demands are met”, said Bislim Ahmetaj , lecturer at “Aleksander Moisiu” University in Durres.
