During her tell all on ‘Ilva Now’, the activist of human rights, at the same time the wife of PM Edi Rama, Mrs. Linda Rama said that women representatives in the government cabinet and all women in the political arena should serve as a strong catalyzer for women and address their problems. This is a mission, which according to her, isn’t expressed often enough.

“Those women that have the chance to be on the highest levels, I don’t see these women as much as they should be, on the level of representing this mission. They haven’t risen to the level of the mission. They only strive to perform their job. Personal ego should be removed, they should understand that they are not there because they are the best. No, they aren’t the best, there are many who are better, but they are simply given the opportunity because of their capacities,”- stated Mrs. Rama.

She also mentioned that she is happy about fact that on the international scene, whenever there are discussions of gender equality, Albania ranks on high levels, while adding that she would like for women in politics to have a much better knowledge of the issues of women in their communities, something which according to her isn’t part of their vocation at all.

Being an experienced activist in civil society, Mrs. Rama valued the progress made by PM Rama in the representation of women in the Albanian public arena and stated that women in this country deserve much more.

When asked by journalist Ilva Tare, if she sees this time as suitable for a woman to become the leader of this country, Mrs. Rama answered by saying that it has come and gone, as it could’ve happened much earlier, since the beginning of democracy in Albania.

Linda Rama told Ilva Tare about her own experience, saying that her first job was as an economist in the velvet factory, in Kombinat.

Then, her career continued by getting hired as a professor, a period, during which her first daughter was born, Rea.

Also, part of Linda Rama’s background are her studies in Czechoslovakia, where she did her masters. She referred to this experience as a cultural shock, as she had been used to a system, which didn’t “complete her” and this masters’ degree, was exactly what would mark the beginning of the rest of her career.

PM Edi Rama’s spouse is currently involved in thorough scientific research, which according to her, are easily accessible on the internet. Her studies are mainly focused in the field of economy, even though she is also involved in other fields, pertaining to the social plane.

“My work deals with analysis, thorough analysis, which is sometimes even thoroughly scientific,” declared Mrs. Rama while adding that she has always made sure to award the necessary time to her intellectual and professional growth apart from all her family engagements.

One of the latest studies conducted by Mrs. Rama and her team dealt with a current theme, because it treated the digital competences of the education system, with an aim of implementing them in order to deter the negative consequences of COVID-19.
