Starting from the month of October, pensions have been indexed by 4.1% according to the last decision of the government, that means, urban pensions will have an increase of about 700 ALL.

But what can a pensioner buy with 700 lek?

We accompanied Nafije to the fruit and vegetable market, to see what products she could spend with that amount.

Mother Nafija has 6 children, 5 are in migration, while one of the sons lives with her. He suffers from mental health problems.

With 700 new lek we got tomatoes, cheese, cucumbers, eggs and pears.

These foods, for mother Nafijen, can only come out for a few meals.

Fortunately, it is the children who send her money, helping with the purchase of medicine and all the payments that need to be made.

There are about 800,000 pensioners across the country who have benefited from increased pensions.

Some of them had an increase of 400 All.

Many of them considered it insulting to go on camera and show the food they could buy with that increase.

Even in Gjirokastra this autumn, the prices of food products have increased. Buyers, mainly pensioners, complain that they do not have the income to buy, while sellers justify the increase in prices as a result of imported goods that have a higher cost.
