“Self-determination Movement (LVV) has never been a consolidated political subject when it comes to all of its local branches in Kosovo’. These were the opening remarks of analyst Bekim Kabashi, in his interview for Euronews Albania, the morning after Kosovo’s 2021 Local Elections officially wrapped up.

According to the analyst, LVV hasn’t presented a communal offer, but rather a central government offer – an offer coming directly from Albin Kurti.

Kabashi also noted that LVV was careless this time around because Kurti became too comfortable after his landslide victory on February 14’s parliamentary elections and thought that all it took to win in these mayoral elections was his name.

“There is no longer such thing as a loyal or militant electorate. Everything depends on the offer presented by each candidate,” – argued Kabashi.

LVV was only able to declare victory in one out of Kosovo’s four main communes.

In addition, the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo (LDK) claimed a landslide victory, which also granted it the lead of Kosovo’s capital, Prishtina, where the newly mayor-elect Perparim Rama, will be in charge for the next 4 years.

At the end of counting, LDK’s candidate, Perparim Rama was able to win 51.07% as opposed to Arbin Vitia’s 48.93%.
