The departure of doctors and nurses in recent years to Germany has become a serious problem.

In just 10 years, 3500 professionals from the healthcare system have left our country.

“According to statistics from the Chamber of Doctors and Nurses in Germany, we have up to 3,500 professionals left from Albania alone, of which 1,200 to 1,500 are from the Faculty of Medicine who are doctors, dentists, even pharmacists, while the rest are professionals like nurses, physiotherapists have also started and in recent times laboratory technicians, public health”, said the President of the Federation of Albanian Doctors in Europe, Aurora Dollenberg.

Such an exodus for our country should be considered an alarm bell.

“This society has been losing its investment for many years now and this must be stopped because, in the end, it will just end up meaning a very low standard of service, whether in healthcare or in other areas, for all the Albanian citizens”, she emphasized.

The economic issue is the main reason for which they leave.

“Germany needs them, it takes them for free and it also pays them minimum wage. So, we are not paid like a German and we do not have many favors like the locals do,” she said.

This situation, according to her, risks bringing the entire health system to a total collapse.
