Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha held his final electoral rally in Korça today.

He called on citizens to vote for the Democratic Party on May 11 and, according to him, to open a new chapter and a new era for Albania.

Berisha stated that with the vote on May 11, “a dark chapter in history will be archived” — referring to what he described as Prime Minister Edi Rama’s failed governance.

During his speech, Berisha promised that within one year, every young graduate would have a job, either in the public or private sector.

He added that in the first year of his government, 1,000 new university-related job positions would be created, dedicated to high-achieving students, along with the establishment of a National Youth Fund.

The opposition leader said that Albanians, on their path toward freedom, experienced an “accident,” referring to what he called “12 years of narco-dictatorship.” He emphasized that “May 11 will mark the division of two eras.”

Berisha sharply criticized Rama over a specific case, claiming the prime minister attempted to “buy an ordinary citizen like Ilir Vrenozi” because he cannot tolerate criticism.

According to Berisha, “The Socialist Party’s campaign focused on Ilir Vrenozi,” which he claimed shows that Rama is afraid of the voices of ordinary citizens.

Continuing his speech, the opposition leader also addressed Albania’s demographic situation. He said, “An empty cradle and classrooms without children are a tragedy for every Albanian,” adding that “even if a house is made of gold, without children, it remains an empty home.”

Berisha vowed that, with the Democratic Party in power, within 100 days, all Albanian mothers, fathers, grandmothers, and grandfathers would receive a minimum pension no lower than 200 euros.

He concluded by stating that his party’s full energy would focus on the youth, promising grants for students who wish to start businesses or new projects.
