Kosovo’s health care workers have entered a second 8-hour strike demanding that the parliament immediately adopts a bill on wages.
The first strike was held on Thursday.
The executive council of the Federation of Health Trade Unions of Kosovo (FSSHK) called for an emergency meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla and Health Minister Rifat Latifi in order to have their voice heard when drafting the bill.
But as the meeting did not take place today, health care workers went on a strike from 7 AM.
“We would like to inform public opinion that despite our request to meet with state institutions, the latter did not reflect that. As a result, the Federation of Health Trade Unions of Kosovo is obliged to hold an 8-hour strike near health institutions”, a statement released by the Union read.
FSSHK also highlighted that emergency services will continue to conform to the Law on Strikes.
