Analyst Ergys Mertiri has stated that there’s a certain rivalry between the head of the Freedom Party Ilir Meta and the head of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Mertiri argued that Meta’s strength is growing and one of the reasons, according to him, is the contacts he has with internationals.
- “I see this coalition as not very harmonized; I see a kind of rivalry between Meta and Berisha, and of course Meta’s strength has increased now that he is not the president but is at the forefront of the party. I see Meta’s strength increased due to the very fact that he has contacts with internationals, he has contacts with foreign partners, while Berisha is “Non-Grata”
I do not see this coalition as very healthy. I think that the rivalry between Berisha and Meta will grow. Meta is creating his own opposition action, and on the other hand, Berisha is not supporting Meta’s action at all,” Mertiri declared.
Among other things, Mertiri emphasized that the rivalry between Berisha and Meta will have a negative impact on the opposition.
“This will bring rivalry between them and this will be a problem for the opposition,” he said.
