“This is just Parliament’s arrogant behavior”. This is what president Ilir Meta said today after parliament overturned his decree, which returned for revaluation, the law on the administration of the National Park of Butrnit.
“The parliamentary commission has overturned the president’s decree on the matter of Butrint, which is crucial to our cultural heritage and national identity. This only reminded us once again of Parliament’s arrogance in relation to consultation, in relation to listening experts in the field and civil society. They were banished today in the most brutal way which clearly shows that those MPs who acted this way today, were politically dictated and only followed a script that at the end of the way put one of our prized cultural gems at risk – Butrnit, and the reasons behind this are as dark and obscure as the motives that keep hurting our national identity,” – said the head of state.
Meta also highlighted that MPs should read all the arguments presented about the violation of the Constitution.
