Albanian President Ilir Meta has signed Saturday a decree for the dismissal of the General Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, paving the way for his voting as the new head of state.

President Meta is currently in Istanbul attending the Maltepe Economic Forum.

Meta said he will hold an extraordinary press conference a few hours ahead of the presidential voting at the Albanian Parliament.

This Saturday, the Socialist Party presented its official presidential nominee to the public, General Bajram Begaj.
