Justice Minister Ulsi Manja declared plans to vet notaries public across Albania.
After a government meeting, Manja clarified that the responsibility for the background checks must fall on the Ministry of Justice.
“The 2019 Law on Notaries also prescribed the means on how to filter this service. It is the Ministry of Justice, which through planned inspections and proactive investigations, must carry out the filtration of this system. Although its services have been delegated, the Ministry of Justice is still responsible for this service”, declared Manja.
He also added that there are no overlaps with co-governance, but the latter will be one of the main information sources for the anti-corruption specialized structure.
Manja underlined that the justice minister has already drafted a bill proposing specific amends to the law, something that aims to enhance public trust.
