The Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, announced that the implementation of the decision of the ministry he leads on the conversion of driver’s licenses issued by Serbian structures, which Kosovo considers illegal, to those issued by the Republic of Kosovo has begun.
Through a post on Facebook, Sveçla said that only on May 10, 29 citizens from nine municipalities of Kosovo converted these documents.
“This will be a good opportunity for our citizens who, after being equipped with a driver’s license of our Republic, will have the opportunity to move freely within our country,” Sveçla wrote on Facebook.
At the beginning of May, the Government of Kosovo announced that the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a decision that enables citizens to convert driver’s licenses issued by illegal Serbian institutions in Kosovo to official ones issued by Kosovo institutions.
On May 7, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the transition to an RKS driver’s license does not require a repetition of the exam to obtain a driver’s license, “but only an application, which every citizen must submit to the Center for Equipment with documents”.
