New details have been discovered from the questioning of 6 people regarding the death of Joy Ayoko. The 22-year-old Kenyan girl was found brutally beaten on August 14th in Tirana.

Sources tell Euronews Albania that the 6 aforementioned people have been discharged after being questioned by police. However, their cellphones were confiscated.

Rodin Barçi, the driver of the casino where Joy worked and one of the 6 questioned people, denied being involved in the case. He clarified to the police that he and Joy had an intimate relationship, that had ended before her death.

The same sources tell Euronews Albania that letters have been sent to Kenya regarding the autopsy of the young girl. Interpol is expected to speed up procedures for cooperation regarding the case.

Although cellphones have been seized, the investigative group encountered difficulties with Joy’s phone, because she used a Kenyan number. Her phone was also damaged. As far as conversations are concerned, they’re mostly in Kenyan language and have yet to be translated.

One of the biggest mysteries remains the declaration of Joy’s friends, translated by Rodin Barçi. There are doubts that the girls’ declaration has been altered, because Barçi was primary suspect ever since the case arose.

The analysis of the cellphones will help the investigative group to fully clarify the death of the young Kenyan girl. On the night of the incident, footage depicted a person approaching the hostel where the 22-year-old Joy Ayoko lived.
