North Macedonia will have an Albanian prime minister 100 days ahead of the elections, with or without an interim government, said Talat Xhaferi for Euronews Albania.

The speaker of the assembly maintained that political parties should agree to revoke the procedure of having an interim government before the elections.

North Macedonia has a special procedure in the run-up to the elections. An interim government tasked to carry out the elections, is formed 100 days before voting. However, political parties are debating on nullifying this.

In regards to the Open Balkan, Xhaferi declared that it is a continuation of the Berlin Process. But skepticism amid, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Bosnia has rendered the initiative incomplete.

According to him, Kosovo’s participation depends on talks with Serbia.

“This process won’t be complete unless all Western Balkan countries join”, he said.

The speaker of the assembly ruled out North Macedonia’s decoupling from Albania, seeing it as part of EU’s strategy.

“The North Macedonia-Albania package doesn’t depend on the veto. It is up to the activities of EU institutions”, he said.
