The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has welcomed NATO’s decision to intervene if the situation in the North of Kosovo escalates.
Through a post on Facebook, Berisha said that NATO’s position is clearly a warning to Vucic “not to play with fire”.
According to Berisha, yesterday Vucic ordered the Serbs in northern Kosovo to abandon the country’s state institutions, therefore The Hague is where he belongs, as a serious and irreparable threat to peace and stability in the region.
“The Democratic Party fully supports and welcomes NATO’s position and condemns with the greatest severity the efforts of ‘little Putin’ to ignite a new conflict in the region. It warns Serbian president Vucic that his dreams of a ‘Greater Serbia’ are buried once and for all in Kosovo and that to every act of his aggression, Albanians will react as a single united nation”, Berisha wrote among other things.
The Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoana, said on Saturday that the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, remains alert and ready to intervene in case stability in the region comes under threat.
