The head of the association of former politically persecuted people, Nebil Cika, said that the Democratic Party is now led by a communist, referring to Sali Berisha.

Çika, in an interview for Euronews Albania, emphasized that Berisha and Fatos Nano were both members of the Labor Party, which was led by former dictator Enver Hoxha.

According to him, a man who served Enver Hoxha cannot bring democracy.

“Hoxha has led a terrorist organization which was the Albanian Labor Party. Members of this organization have led political parties, such as Fatos Nano, Sali Berisha. If there is any institution that is responsible for the communist dictatorship it is the Labor Party, people who were members of this criminal gang that was illegal. There is no darker period of our national history than the leadership of the country by the Albanian Communist Party and its leader Enver Hoxha.

These nostalgics are the part what makes us revolt. But a man who has served Enver Hoxha cannot bring democracy. Here are those communists who allegedly overthrew the dictatorship; it is shameful that today the ‘anti-communist right’ is led by a communist, and former members of the party that was led by Hoxha” – he argued.

In addition, he claimed that commemorating Enver Hoxha’s birthday is like commemorating the devil himself.
