The “New Born” monument in Prishtina is being read differently on the 15th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence.

The anagram of the letters is sharing the following message with the world: “Say NO to a broken republic that is being torn apart”.

According to its author, artist Fisnik Ismajli this year’s message carries the following meaning:

The idea to color the 7 letters that symbolize Kosovo’s Independence every year, was born in Ismajli’s company. The artist says that the conception and the annual transformation of his sculpture which gained worldwide fame and recognition since its installation 15 years ago, is done with a voluntary contribution.

The “New Born” sculpture is located in front of the Palace of Youth and Sports in Prishtina, and was promoted on February 17, 2008, the day Kosovo declared independence from Serbia. On the day of the inauguration, the letters were yellow and each year, their patterns change, turning them into a powerful tool for expressing Kosovo’s feelings and messages to the world.
