Head of SP’s parliamentary group, Taulant Balla declared today that the government hasn’t made any deals with the opposition in regards to the extension of mandates for the vetting bodies in exchange for votes for the territorial reform.

According to Balla, vetting is an issue of technicalities – something which both the government and the opposition should stay away from so they don’t risk politicizing it.

“I want to guarantee everyone that we haven’t agreed to any kind of deal, because it is a case that I consider to be of utter importance, where each MP should take on the responsibility they each deserve. Anything else, we have expressed our willingness to sit down in discussions with the opposition in Parliament,” – said Balla.

During his statement following the leaders’ conference, Balla reiterated that the government will refuse the opposition’s request to form an inquiry commission for the Becchetti trial, while adding that the inquiry commission for the April 25 electoral process will be formed this Thursday.

Meanwhile, in a statement for the press, the head of DP’s parliamentary group, Alfred Rushaj said that the Democrats haven’t received any proposition from SP or their partners in regards to the vetting process.

According to Rushaj, what’s important for DP is to put the interests of Albanian citizens at the center of this process, instead of Edi Rama’s interests.
