On Wednesday, four citizens in North Macedonia were diagnosed with ‘Flurona’, a combination of COVID-19 and flu all at once.
The health ministry announced that one of the cases was detected at a private clinic on a 26 years old, who had traveled from the US.
The ministry also noted that the young man was fully jabbed and is being treated at home with mild symptoms.
The other three cases were recorded in Skopje and in neither case, hospitalization was not deemed necessary.
According to the Institute of Public Health, the so-called Flurona comes with a combination of flu-like symptoms.
On Wednesday, North Macedonia recorded 1,375 new cases, of which 33 are from the Omicron variant.
Authorities are blaming new year celebrations and the holidays for the new surge.
More than 8,000 people have died from COVID-19 in North Macedonia.
